New Hyundai Sonata prototype spotted while driving at the highway…

Next-generation Hyundai Sonata prototype has been caught again while undergoing testing on the highway somwhere in South Korea!

Codenamed YF, the next generation Sonata sedan will feature sporty a four-door-coupe-like exterior design, similar to that implemented to the CLS sedan-coupe from Mercedes-Benz.

Based on the newly developed platform, the 2010 Sonata will be available with an array of diesel and gasoilne engines. It will also feature Hyundais first ever gasoline electric hybrid system. Sonata’s hybrid architecture has been officially presented to the public at the 2008 L.A. auto show where Hyundai put on display its latest range of eco-friendly cars and technologies.

In addition to hybrid powertrain, the YF Sonata will also be available with a range of eco-friendly four-cylinder engines. Those include a 2.4L four-cyl unit equipped with gasoline direct technology and a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline powerplant. At the moment we have no confirmed horsepower rating, but estimated power output is expected to range from 200 to 250 horspower!

Next generation Hyundai Sonata sedan, and its rumored station wagon variant, are expected to go on sale in South Korean market by the end of this year, while its International debut is scheduledfor the spring of 2010.
