The all-new Hyundai Genesis sedan named North American Car of the year!

During the news conference at the start of media preview days for the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, it was announced that Genesis sedan has won the prestigious Car Of The Year 2009 award!

The prestigious award is the first of a kind for the largest Korean automaker and also the first one for a South Korean automaker ever. A jury of fifty automotive journalists from United States and Canada has selected Genesis sedan as the best new car that has hit the market just recently!

Hyundai Genesis has been selected among a batch of competitive vehicles including more than 50 contenders. After a group of automotive journalists narrowed the list down to three finalists, it was clear that this year the history will be in the making. For the first time, Hyundai came to the finals where it has joined other two finalists, the VW Jetta TDI and Ford Flex.

Based on a number of different factors such as design, handling, safety, driver satisfaction and value for $, Genesis has been selected to take the top honours in the most important and exclusive North American automobile award for this year.

“Genesis represents everything we have learned, so far, about engineering great automobiles – and we are delighted that the judges have recognized the good work of our R&D teams,” said John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America acting president and chief executive officer. “And we are not stopping here as Genesis will share company in Hyundai showrooms this spring with its rear–wheel drive platform–mate, the Genesis Coupe.”

At the end, I would like to express congratulations to Hyundai Motor Company for the 2009 Car Of A Year Award in the name of Hyundai Blog.
