First series of Hyundai i20 are starting to arrive to Europe…from India!

Perhaps you didn’t know, but Hyundai has become the largest auto exporter in India. A few months ago, the company has opened its second manufacturing plant there. According to the world’s fifth largest carmaker in the world, both factories are capable of producing 600.000 small cars each year, with more than half of them destined for exports world-wide.

Just yesterday, Hyundai Motor India dispatched its maiden shipment of the brand new i20 B-segment car. Joining i10 mini car, the i20 hatchback, which was just recently unveiled at Paris Auto Show, will be exported to 110 countries across the world.

In Europe, Hyundai received orders to supply 30,000 cars. The first consigment includes 2,820 cars and they are already on its way to the European market.

In December this year, Hyundai will start shipping its all-new i20 to Asia Pacific region (Australia, New Zealand…), Middle East and Latin America.

UPDATE: Just recently, Hyundai announced it will relocate production of its i20 hatch from India to Europe. Majority of i20s will still be built in India, but those estined for European market are going to be produced in Turkey.
