Hyundai i30 CW goes on sale in South Korea
Hyundai Motor Company commences sales of i30 CW in South Korean market…
Already on sale in Europe and soon to be launched in USA, Hyundai Motor has released a wagon variant of the i30 hatchback in South Korea. The i30 CW will join the five-door model, which went on sale in Korean market earlier this year and has sold above expectations.
Initially, Hyundai expected to sell about 10,000 units on its home market annually, but so far, more than 2,000 units of the i30 hatch have been sold each month, meaning its yearly sales target will be surpassed by a large margin. To further increase these numbers, Hyundai is adding a wagon variant of the i30 to its Korean car line-up.
Named i30 CW, the car will be available with two different gasoline four-cylinder powerplants, generating between 126 and 142 horsepower. There will also be available a diesel engine, which packs 128 horsepower. Five speed manual or four speed automatic transmissions will be available.
Pricing for the i30 CW will start at 15.07 million won – $11,800 gor the base model and increase to 19.35 million won -US$15,151 for the top of the line i30 CW.

Hopefully when they sell the “Elantra Touring” in the states it will be offered in both sizes… that just makes sense….
And since the last Elantra “wagon” available in the states was about 2000, it would be nice to see this “small family car” available in the staes again. Volvo, Mercedes, Audi, Subaru, Saab and Bmw never stopped selling them and they tend to do well in the metopolitan areas in the US. This would be a nice lower cost alternatve to these “yuppiemobiles”. (Small family cars for the young upper class. Vehicles you see young doctors and lawyers with… mostly)

Elantra Touring is coming to US soon. But it will only be available as a wagon and not as a five-door hatch.
Hopefully it will bring new customers to Hyundai and help to increase monthly sales. I’m affraid however, that some models might suffer from Elantra Touring debut. It could steal customers to Elantra sedan and Tucson.

Personally I doubt it. Most if the time if you bouaght a wagon you had a specifc use for it. Most people who would want this wagon would not typically buy a sedan or an SUV interchangibly. This car fills need that is not currently being met by Hyundai now. Most won’t tow with it or need AWD… you could be right but, I doubt it.
Like car company’s that sell more than 10 different vehicles like Toyota, Chevy and Mercedes, they are going to have to start targeting their audience for their cars or they can blow their whole line. It will have to become a science …no a passion; or they will have to cut models and lines to make money and “create demand”. I think Hyundai can do it they just need to continue to diversify and give people quality vehicles for great value or they will crash… Pun intended.

You also know the company is really workin’ hard when they start adding the asian girl in the mini-skirt in their ads… Oh yeah, now the car gets some notice. What kind of car was that?
