Fellows over at Worldcarfans.com just published a few spy shots of a heavily masked four-door sedan, and they believe that this is the all-new, 2010 Hyundai Sonata sedan!

Based on these shots, its hard to point out the car company standing behind the prototype. The car is heavily disguised and you cant really see any typical design elements that would reveal particular car brand. The prototype does, however, features a similar three bar grille, that we have seen at the 2010 Hyundai Portico crossover.

If this vehicle really turns out to be the next generation Hyundai Sonata, as Worldcarfans states, then Hyundai kept a promise and developed a different, more exciting (design wise) Sonata replacement. A few months ago we read a report in on of the UK magazines where some Hyundai insiders talked about exciting new look of the future Sonata.

Let’s take a quick look at some facts related to the 2010 Hyundai Sonata:

The vehicle is developed under the code-name YF and will is expected to debut in May 2009 and should go on sale in Korea by mid October. Official US launch was not announced, but it will most probably happen a few months later.

Hyundai already confirmed it has been developing a Sonata hybrid that will hit the market in 2010. As early as in November, next month, Hyundai will showcase a Sonata hybrid concept car at the L.A. Auto Show.

Some reports also suggest that Sonata will be available in two variants, as a wagon and sedan. Details about the engines are slim so far, but Hyundai could add a 2,0L turbocharged engine to the range, in order to fulfil the horsepower difference between the base 4-cylinder and 3,3 V6 engine.
