Hyundai i20 video from Paris Auto Show
Three weeks ago, Hyundai released an official image of its upcoming new product. When I saw the image and realized that the car on the image was actually the all-new i20, I felt somehow disappointed. The five-door i20 hatch, coated in red color, left me cold and nothing about it really excited me. To me, the car I was looking at,seemed very unexpressive and bland.
But something was telling me that before I make my final decision whether I like the new i20 or not, I should first see more images of it. The i20 was announced to make its world debut at the auto show in Paris and I couldn’t wait for more shots and videos to surface to the web. That seemed like a great opportunity to get a more detailed preview of the car.
After I got to see some close up shots and videos on Youtube (attached below), I was sold to the car. Just as I hoped, the new i20 turned out to be a lot more than just a new car with an unexpressive exterior design.
The images and a video -posted below- prove that the all-new i20 packs a very elegant exterior shape, spiced up with some distinctive design elements. The overall exterior design also feels dynamic in appearance, especially when compared to its predecessor -the Getz. Among the most expressive design elements on the i20, in my opinion, are the strong side character line, its bold chrome grille flanked by teardrop headlamps at the front and its striking stacked light clusters at the rear. Why do you find the i20 interesting?

Wow, these new photos really show much more detail. I hope Hyundai brings this one to the U.S. as my old Elantra is really starting to show signs of aging. Thanks for the pics!

Yeah, i20 looks really good here. So far nothing confirmed about it coming to US. But Hyundai might bring it to replace Accent. It could also be slightly restyled for US market.

Well, I try to help people finding their answers on Hyundais and try to reply to every comment posted here,on the blog.
Three door i20 will come to the market about 6 months after five-door version. Automatic will be available optionally, but not on all models (at the moment no info which models).
Details so far are very slim, so I can not answer everything you ask. Will let you know when I get some more news,ok!!
As far as I know, i20 will share it’s platform with next generation Kia Rio, but next gen. Rio is still far away from now. It is not expected to hit the market before 2010.

Good new; just found this:
There’s also a 1.4-petrol engine borrowed from the i30, which can be specified with a four-speed automatic gearbox, and a couple of 1.4 diesel – with 74bhp or 88bhp.

It may be too conservative for you Europeans, but the i20 brought over here to the United States as an Accent would do very well here among Adults 25-40. All of the competitors you mention, have too outlandish and juvenile styling. They look like gifts you give to an American 17-18 year old for graduating high school, or they look cheap like the Fiesta. (Well the future US version) Then again, the Fiesta is supposed to compete to be the cheapest car in America.

The i20 has alloy wheels, standard. You can not get that kind of equipment standard on any B-segemnt sold in America. I hope that when Hyundai brings this though, they dont water it down like the other makes do to their models to make them cost effective for American sale.
It maybe inferior for European tastes, but for American small car lovers like myself who want a car without the funky styling that wont make it dated in 5 years like the others. Plus with that kind of content that is available on the i20, it would blow a US spec Honda Fit (Jazz) out of the water.

The latest on the i20 here in the UK is that CAP, the used car market and motor industry analysts, say the i20 will retain a greater percentage of its original value after three years than the likes of VW Polo and Toyota Yaris, as well as big players like the Vauxhall Corsa, Peugeot 207 and even the new Ford Fiesta.
So it’ll be good news for new car buyers when they come to sell it and because of the 5 year warranty should appeal to used buyers as well.

That’s great news!! Thanks for sharing with us!

I Love this car. Please Car God, allow Hyundai to bring this to America as an Accent with 2 engine choices 1.4L Gas 1.6L Gas and a possible hybrid option with that Accent Hybrid system you have? Allow it to sell with chrome door handles on your top end model as well. Allow it to be restyled somewhat to have a shooting brake rear 1/8 end, akin to the Veloster/New Tiburon. Please Car God, Please????!!!!

Shooting brake shapped Veloster is coming next year to replace the current Tiburon, while accent will be completely redesigned. It will be sharing most of it’s technical parts and body components with the i20, but most probably a little different design!
