Hyundai i20 was spied again. This time, wearing a little less camouflage than before. Codenamed PB, this is Hyundai’s answer to the very popular Opel Corsa, Peugeot 207 and VW Polo.

Hyundai i20 will replace Getz hatchback, which was quite a successful foray into the crowded automotive B-class sector. Hyundai Getz fought very well against established nameplates such as VW Polo, Renault Clio, Fiat Punto, Toyota Yaris and afore-mentioned Peugeot 207 and Opel Corsa, and brought many satisfied customers to Hyundai brand.

When i20 goes on sale early next year it will be available in two variants, as a five-door or a three door hatchback. Both variants will sport more modern exterior design compared to Getz and will also benefit from improved interior design, as well as better safety and driving dynamics.

The all-new i20 will share its underpinnings with Kia Soul crossover. The two will also share major powertrain components such as engines and transmissions. Hyundai announced it will manufacture the all-new i20 hathcback at its manufacturing plant in India, which is capable of producing around 300.000 cars annually.

More information about the all-new i20 will be reeased closer to the model’s official debut, scheduled for 2009 Paris Auto Show.
