Hyundai Genesis vs. Lexus GS
Hyundai Genesis sedan put on test against luxury Lexus GS 350. Which vehicle’s better?
I just came across this article and I believe that this is the first comparison test of Hyundai Genesis sedan against any other competitive model. Guys over at Edmunds.com were among the first journalists to get behind the wheel of new Hyundai Genesis sedan. They were also the first to run a comparison test between these two highly acclaimed automobiles: Hyundai Genesis 4.6L and Lexus GS 350.
Here are a few words from the comparo test: It’s almost hard to write: Lexus vs. Hyundai. That’s the New York Yankees taking on the Albuquerque Isotopes — same game, different leagues. It’s pitting an exalted brand name to which millions aspire, up against the bargain brand millions settle for. And yet despite that, putting the 2008 Lexus GS 350 up against Hyundai’s audacious new 2009 Genesis 4.6 in a luxury sedan throw-down has resulted in one of the closest finishes ever in an Inside Line heads-up comparison test.
Yes, the Hyundai Genesis holds its own quite well against the Lexus GS 350 — without all that pesky prestige. Wonder which sedan won the comparison test? Read the full article and find out.

NOT HAPPENING

Its not Comaparble to a Yaris though John. The Elantra Touring is more comparable to a SAAB 9-3 Wagon, or a lower trim Audi A3 sportback, and possibly a Volvo S40 Wagon. The Elantra is the S-Class compared to the Yaris. The Genesis is a Maybach compared to a Yaris Lmao. Higher Spec Accent SEs are like Audis compared to a Yaris for that matter.

The problem with the Accent is the $9970 option, lack of leather on Higher trims, Lack of ammenities on the mid trims, no 5 door, no hybrid, no turbo, and the stereo starts to conk out slowly at 60,000 miles.
The Accent is a great car in terms of transporation, but it was a limp wristed effort by a Company who makes Genesises and Equuses, and so it the Elantra. The Sonata is a sold effort but not good enough considering the Relaiblity of the Accent and Elantra, and the ammenities the cars above it has.
However, those cars were designed by old teams, and built with much more simple manufacturing techniques though. We also have to remember that those cars helped Hyundai move from 10 in size globally to 4th in size globally in the last 5 years, to despite the efforts we have to give some respect to those cars.

I think Hyundai is trying a trick of bringing up resale values, by making the cost at the base end lower. The lower the starting cost, I guess they think the less harder the value goes down.
Maybe they are trying to saturate the market with as much cheap stuff as possible, so when the next gen versions come out there will be so many older gen cars on the marktet, that resale values wont drop like a rock.
