i30 hatch heading to China

To reach this year’s production and sales targets, Beijing Hyundai decided to produce another new model of Hyundai in addition to the heavyweight model Elantra in the second half of 2008. Sources said that the Hyundai i30 hatchback for the European market will be made in the second plant of the joint venture later this year.
When its construction is completed later this year, the second plant of Beijing Hyundai will have an anuual capacity of 300,000 vehicles. The JV aims to sell 100,000 Elantra cars in 2008 and this means the new plant’s capacity will be used for the production of another new Hyundai model to compete with the newly launched Buick Excelle and 2008 Ford Focus.
Making the Hyundai i30 hatchbacks for the customers from ordinary families will be a good choice for Beijing Hyundai to boost its sales figures.

hey guys thanks for bringing us the latest news all the time!!!
i live in australia and my friend’s dad, who used to drive a modified Holden Commodore SS, now drives an i30 SR that looks exactly like the one in the pic above right down to the colour. he bought it over the competition because he liked the sporty design of the SR trim and the safety features. its also the car of the year and green car of the year in australia too!
my mum (mom) works at a hospital and one of the patients told her about her new diesel i30 and how it was so well built and the features were outstanding. this just shows how in a few months, hyundai australia has progressed from a cheap company image to a company which people will spend upwards of $28,000-$30,000 on a hatchback. probably thanks to the COTY awards!
btw cars are really expensive here. for $30,000 i think you can buy a bmw 128i with some leftovers (30,000.00 AUD=28,734.34 USD) or a nice audi 2.0T A3 with some options installed. dang~
