Hyundai i30N Performance Package Specs – Leaked Official Details
The 2018 Hyundai i30 N is still a little way off, but we got a little sneak peek of the new model when it was mistakenly revealed at a media presentation.
The leaked documents alerted us all to the fact that it will come in standard and performance variants, which is certainly news.
Hyundai i30 turbo engine specs
One powerful engine will be available in both variants, although the horsepower rating will differ in each one.
The “standard” Hyundai i30N will get a 2.0-liter turbo that delivers 250-hp, while the i30N Performance model will up the power to 275-hp.
To begin with, both i30 N models will come equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, but expect an 8-speed DCT to become available later.
There have also been rumors that we will see an AWD version of the i30 N, but as of yet, nothing has been officially confirmed.
Albert Biermann, who serves as the head of the N performance division at Hyundai, confirmed that this powerful little unit will also be delivering some great ride and handling dynamics, thanks in large part to the addition of a firmer suspension.
This will be the first vehicle in the Hyundai line-up to be equipped with an electronically controlled mechanical limited-slip differential.
Try saying that three times fast, or simply do what Hyundai is doing and refer to it as the E-LSD system. This set-up may only end up being used on the performance model, though.
Hyundai i30N design
The design of the Hyundai i30N hot hatchback will obviously be different compared to the less potent, standard i30 model.
Up front, the vehicle will boast a more aggressive looking front fascia, which comes complete with horizontal LED daytime running lights and large air intakes in the bumpers.
It will also have larger wheels and brakes, as well as bigger side skirts and a trunk-mounted spoiler.
Around back, you will find a cool looking dual exhaust set-up.
Hyundai i30N release date
We don’t have to wait too much longer to get a glimpse of this hot hatch beauty, as it’s expected to be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2017.
That would likely mean that it will be in the Hyundai showrooms before the end of 2017.
More Hyundai N models in future?
The N will not be the last new addition to the i30 family, as a wagon and fatback are also lined up for future release.
There is very little know about those models, other than heavily camouflaged spy shots, but we will keep you up to date with all the latest i30 developments.
We have become used to seeing other automakers offer up a line of sporty models, so it’s no real surprise that Hyundai is finally dipping their toe into that increasingly popular market.
Doing so will certainly help build their brand and introduce them to a wider audience. (Photo source: autoherald korea)
