Hyundai i30 1,6L Diesel Review by… Batman!?
For those of you thought that Batman had hung up his cape after seeing off the likes of Harvey Two-Face, Bane, and The Joker, you might be surprised to learn that he has now turned his attention to reviewing cars.
Or maybe he just felt that he had to come out of retirement to review one car in particular: the Hyundai i30, which was recently about to be reviewed by car guy Rory Reid in London.
The big problem is that Batman has to compare the i30 to his Batmobile, Tumbler, and Bat Jet, so he is going to be a tough customer to please.
That’s why Rory has to step in and be the voice of reason. It’s his job to prove to the Dark Knight that the Hyundai i30 is indeed a worthy vehicle and more than just an elaborate cup holder for beef jerky.
Things didn’t start well for Batman as he seemed confused that the steering wheel is on the other side over in the UK.
That may explain why he wasn’t immediately captivated by the smooth ride provided by the 1,6L diesel engine, or the start/stop technology that automatically cuts the engine when you come to a stop.
Given that the Batman is used to traveling at speed, it wasn’t really a surprise when he liked that the i30 went from 0-60 in a zippy 11 seconds.
Batman’s gravel-voiced styling’s made it tough for the voice recognition system to perform his request to hear a CD, but the 75mpg fuel rating was enough to calm him down again, although you get the sense that he would also like the car to have the ability to set the criminals of Gotham ablaze.
Word from Hyundai is that there are no immediate plans to add such a feature to future models.
By the end of the ride, after much yelling at pedestrians, Batman was ready nto give the Hyundai i30 a 4-star rating. Not bad, but upon finding out that it is available in black, he gave up that final star in no time at all.
While he may not be trading in the Batmobile any time soon, there is a good chance that you might just see Batman escorting the delicious Catwoman around town in the i30, just as long as he can get it in black.
