2017 Hyundai i30 Teased Ahead Of September Launch (VIDEO)
The third-generation Hyundai i30 compact hatchback is still in the development and testing phase, but the Koreans have decided that it’s time to get started with a teaser campaign.
The upcoming Hyundai 5-door hatchback is currently being tested in Europe, and will feature a new front grille, as well as changes to the lights in front and back, both of which will feature LED elements.
This latest version appears to be a little more refined than the current model, and the longer rear doors indicate that it may also be a little larger.
That is sure to mean a more spacious cabin, with some extra legroom coming via a longer wheelbase.
We don’t know many details about the engine line-up right now, but what is known that a 2.0-liter turbo N version engine will sit at the top of the range.
This will allow Hyundai to deliver a legitimate hot hatch, with the power output coming in somewhere around 260-hp. There is a video available that shows that specific engine being put through its paces and hitting that horsepower mark in rather comfortable fashion, as well as getting 228-lb.-ft. of torque.
In discussing the i30 N, Albert Biermann, Head of Vehicle Test & High Performance Development for Hyundai, has promised a vehicle that will hit the 155 mph mark.
The lone transmission option will be a 6-speed manual, but it’s expected that an automatic will be available by 2018. There is also talk of an AWD variant, but no firm details on that as of yet.
