New i20 To Be Released At The 2014 Paris Auto Show
Hyundai’s all-new i20 will be officially unveiled at the 2014 Paris Auto Show in October.
Development of the all-new Hyundai i20 5-door hatchback has entered the final phase, according to latest reports.
The automaker’s current pre-production testing program has been undergoing in the Northern Europe where temperatures have stayed below zero.
A fleet of heavily camouflaged i20 prototypes have been exposed to the sub-zero temperatures and harsh winter conditions with an aim to test (and improve) the car’s dependability.
The all-new i20 hatchback has also been spotted doing test runs in India where it was benchmarked with the VW Polo (probably the best car in the segment).

What to expect from the new Hyundai i20?
- The 2015 Hyundai i20 will feature Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 exterior styling – unexciting exterior styling has been one of the main problems of the current model.
Although the “package” was reliable and got pretty impressive powertrain technology for a small car, it just wasn’t attractive enough to compete against (mostly) European hatchbacks.
- Codenamed IB – the new model sits on an all-new sub-compact car platform, which is also used on other Hyundai-Kia models, including the Soul crossover vehicle and the up-coming ix25 small SUV.
Small turbo engines – Finally, a range of small turbo engines is headed for the production. The automaker has already revealed it has developed a 1,0L and 2,0L T-GDI turbo engines, but has yet to confirm the engines would be available in the next-generation i20 model.
- i20 N – this is the i20 hot hatchback which will also be unveiled in Paris. It will be based on the i20 WRC and will offer aggressive exterior styling and more than 200 horsepower under the hood.
