Hyundai i20 Elite Nabs 40,000 Bookings In 3 Months
In about 3 months, Hyundai Motor India has taken over 40,000 bookings for their Elite i20 hatchback, 55% of which have now been delivered to customers.
The all-new Elite i20 5-door hatch was released back in August, and has quickly become a big hit in India.
Everywhere you look, you are sure to see them on the road.
The combination of design, both inside and out, the list of features, and the competitive price has led to this success.
It took just 10 weeks for the new i20 hatchback to reach 40,000 bookings.
The rise has been steady, as the car sold 6,627 units in August, followed by 8,903 more in September.
The number for October are expected to cross the 9,000 unit mark, which is a major improvement over the sales of the outgoing i20, which was managing about 3-4,000 units per month.
The biggest competitor for the Elite i20 is the Maruti Swift. Despite the hot sales trend of the new Hyundai car, the Swift is still managing to hold its own in terms of sales.
Combined with the success of the smaller i10 Grand, the i20 has helped Hyundai maintain a solid sales number every month in India, with numbers traditionally in the 33-35,000 units mark.
Hyundai India Plans For 2015
There are a number of new Hyundai vehicle launches planned in India for 2015, which Hyundai believes will result in major sales growth.
Those changes should begin with a refresh for the i20 Cross and Accent/Verna facelift, while the ix25 compact SUV will also be launched in the second half of the year.
