Next-generation i10 (codenamed BA) To Be Released This Year
Hyundai plans to launch the all-new i10 mini-car this year; might be named Brilliant in India!
The Indian consumers are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Honda Amaze and Ford EcoSport, but they may not end up being the game changers in the segment, as another company has been working quietly to produce a vehicle that will do just that!
Hyundai has grown a reputation for very much being aware of exactly what Indian car customers need, with the Hyundai i20 and new Elantra perfect examples of that.
The i10 city car has long been a huge money maker for Hyundai Motor India, but the rising cost of petrol has exposed a need for a diesel version to be included in the range.
Hyundai has recognized that need and will tale care of it by launching an all-new small car to replace the i10.
Next i10 release date
While the new car is basically the next generation of the i10, it is being referred to as BA, and is expected to hit the market in the next 3 months.
The new car might be codenamed BA for the moment, but the belief is that it will be released to the Indian market under the Hyundau Brilliant monicker.
The big news in all of this is that there is a very good chance of a diesel being included in the engine options.
The diesel engine will likely be a 3-cylinder version of the one that is in the i20. That would mean that the Hyundai Brilliant would make 68 bhp and around 160 Nm of torque along with a rated economy of 24-25kmpl.
The petrol engine should be the same as the i10 and i20. It is believed that if the diesel model does see the light of day, it will be the one that drives the sales. [Source: Gaadi]
