Hyundai confirms new Veloster Turbo and Genesis facelift for the 2012 North American International Auto Show!

The long-awaited, high-performance Hyundai Veloster coupe has been officially confirmed for the 2012 NAIAS unveiling. The news came directly from Hyundai Motor Americas’ CEO John Krafcik and was published at carmaker’s Twitter account.

The all-new Veloster will be powered by a 204-horsepower 1.6L turbo engine, which was unveiled to the media during the 11th Hyundai-Kia International Powertrain Conference, which was held in South Korea recently. The 1,6L T-GDI four-cylinder engine produces 152kW of power at 6.000 rpm and 265Nm of torque at 1.750 rpm.

Hyundai’s highly-advanced 1,6L T-GDI powerplant features twin-scroll turbocharger, dual variable valve timing and direct injection technology, and promises to give the Veloster Turbo much needed boost in power.

The long-anticipated Hyundai Veloster Turbo will make its official public premiere at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in January and should reach Hyundai’s U.S. showrooms by spring next year.
