Hyundai teases us with new Sonata YF spys shots and i30 facelift rendering
Christmas comes early this year and Santa gives us some presents in the shape of Hyundai teaser shots under our virtual Christmas tree!
What we got in our e-mail inbox this morning are the latest spy shots providing a glimpse preview of the 2010 Hyundai Sonata YF, Hyundai Tucson LM and i30 facelift. Images of Sonata have been taken at Hyundais R&D center in Namyang, Korea and they reveal a heavily camouflaged Sonata sedan during the process of tooling and calibrating.
In addition, we also got the first image of the 2011 Hyundai i30 hatchback, while the third image previews the 2010 Tucson, snapped while running down the highway. The Tucson LM is expected to make its official worldwide debut at Frankfurt Auto Show in September 2009, while i30 hatchback is believed to receive a major front and rear fascia makeovers in about two years from now.
One more thing, the i30 will not only get a facelift, but also a high-performance variant with turbo engine hidden under the bonnet. Rumours suggest that i30 could get the 2,0L turbo engine from Genesis Coupe or the all-new 1,6L turbo engine with 180hp that Hyundai just recently developed. [Source: KBS]

Hyundai/Kia are not playing anymore. They have built fine machines with superb reliablity that are easy to service, and for those of us who have the pleasure of owning a modern Hyundai, driving enjoyment. Now they are giving the style some serious A-Game. Yet, they are keeping the designs modern yet conservative. Nothing funky and too weird like the shapes from Honda or Toyota.

love the sketches… cant wait till we see the new i30. not too fond of the front fascia but i love the rear~ the front bumper on that sketch at the bottom would kik a$s as a turbo model. also do you have an article on that 1.6 turbo engine??? i haven’t heard of that before~

oh yeah and great to hear that hyundai is reaching out to the enthusiasts with the turbo i30… would go nicely with the genesis coupe! now they need an i30 3 door… mmm

I like the look of the i30 and wonder why it doesn’t sell as good as i’s sister model from Kia.
What Hyundai needs to do is to offer a cheap sports car. They should bring a turbo engine to the market as soon as possible.
Imagine a 210hp Elantra Touring! It would sell like a hot cake in US I think!

Yeah admin, it would do good in this conservative country of ours. They have a 1.6 turbo ready for production, and the 2.0 turbo for the next genesis coupe/next tibby (coupe)/elantra is on the pike as well. That would detract many people from the Mazda3 as long as they kept the gas mileage superior and the price on the low side. They have to price it cheaper than the Mazda3 wagon. That is under $16,000 US.

$16,000 price point for a turbo engined car sounds like a really low one, especially when considering that Elantra Touring (i30 wagon) will start at $18,400.
I think it’s impossible to expect a 210 hp car with all the latest safety and emission standards to cost less than 16G grands.
Perhaps some Chinese car company can build it, but no Korean, European or American carcompany can do that.
I’m not familiar with the US market. Which is the lowest priced vehicle with turbo engine on the US market?

i keep seeing official documents sayin about the NEW 2010 santa fe. why have we heardnothing of this at all, considering its the same time sonata, portico, tuscon 2 all come out?
December 27th, 2008 at 10:05 am
im not a hundred percent sure but i would gues cheepest turbo in US is the Jetta TDI($21k)… if that counts. if not id say mazdaspeed3 ($23k)

Thanks buzzg07! Now you see, turbo-engined cars have a lot higher pricing tags as non-turbo. So the best Hyundai could do would be from $18-20 Grands, I guess.
We shal see how they price the new Tiburon, which will hit the market in 2010. That will be the entry level sports car from Hyundai and it is rumoured to have a turbo engine (1,6L – 180hp).
I can’t wait to see it! I’m a huge fan of small sports cars and although I like the Genesis Coupe very much, I’d choose the 2010 Tiburon over it anytime. Especially if it offered even better power to weight ratio than Gen. Coupe.

admin, i wurk for hyundai and they no longer will be making tiburon. the last one i had heard being made was special ordered.
February 1st, 2009 at 1:42 pm
Koenz: I know Hyundai will stop making the Tib, but soon, it will bring it’s replacement to the market. A FWD coupe, smaller than Genesis Coupe, which will compete against VW Scirocco.
It could be named Veloster or retain the Coupe/Tiburon name. Veloster was a concept car from a few years ago and it foretelled the future Coupe.

they’re gonna stop making the tib…ah man…they shoud have just made the genesis coupe the new tib…and made a smaller coupe..same thing…but im saying this cuz the genesis coupe really has nothing to do with the sedan

The response to national disaster is awesome but it’s a damn shame that so many people take advantage of the sad situations.
I mean everytime there is an earthquake, a flood, an oil spill – there’s always a group of heartless people who rip off tax payers.
This is in response to reading that 4 of Oprah Winfreys “angels” got busted ripping off the system. Shame on them!
