Close to 11,000 Hyundai Genesis Coupe vehicles are set to be recalled by Hyundai, with the affected vehicles in the 2013-15 model years.
The NHTSA has released a bulleting stating that suspension issues could lead to a failure in the powertrain.
The differential and the suspension rear crossmember are the components that suffered from the manufacturing problem.
During assembly, these pieces were not properly lined up in all of the vehicles, which could result in the bolts that hold the differential in place coming loose and allowing the differential to slip out of position.
If that happens, a separation between the driveshaft and differential could occur, potentially eliminating propulsion.
The possibility of a crash greatly increases if that separation occurs.
Genesis Coupe models made in the 2013, 2014, and 2015 model years, particularly those made between December 28, 2011 and April 6, 2015, with manual transmissions are at risk.
Hyundai believes that 10,800 models in the US may be affected.
Owners can expect to receive a recall notification by mail by January 11, 2016.
Once they have the recall notice, owners can take their vehicle to a local Hyundai dealer, where it will be inspected and repaired, if necessary.
