If Hyundai was smart! They would offer this beautiful car in the U.S. and be the only real competition against the only popular American distributed Toyota with the fewest recalls… the Venza. The wagon catagory is coming back to the states.. with a vengence. I see Passat wgaons every where now. Since Hyundai got out of the Van market (not real a smart move since Nissan, Toyota, Honda and Chrysler just revamped their minivans and Kia is no real substitute for a Hyundai… they should at least stay in the wagon market here.) The Elantra touring is very popular here..this would be a best 5door seller, I’m sure. Add AWD and it will rival a Subaru wagon.. and HERE, that’s saying something.

This probably will not make it state side due to the fact that we are (from what I hear) getting a revamped Elantra wagon. It is a shame though as this is really good looking. Hyundai should bring one over and do what they did with the Equus. Find out what the people think and if they would buy. I am sure they would be impressed with the amount of people willing to drop money on it.

I agree with EB that dropping out of the minivan race was not so smart. I can just imagine how nice an Entourage with their new design language would look. It would surely out do the best of the class Sienna, Odyssey and even now the Quest.

Just an off the cuff comment, but how is this i40 Tourer different from the Veloster?

I’ll start reading up on both cars in detail.

  4. AccentPlanet Dot Org says:

The Veloster is different because it’s based on the B/C segment platform used on cars such as Accent/i25, Elantra/i35, Hyundai i30, KIA cee’d, Hyundai i20, KIA Soul, KIA Forte, and KIA Rio.

The i40 is based on the D/E segment platform with cars such as Hyundai Sonata/yf45/i45, KIA Optima/K5, KIA Cadenza/K7, and Hyundai Grandeur/Azera.

    It looks beautiful.

    Like a Million bucks!!

Hyundai is on track to making the most beautiful cars ever, but only if they do the responsible things in all forms. If they stray from that, then they will fail like the rest, and become worthless.

Not like Toyota/Lexus or Honda/Acura worthless, but much, much worse. Those who rise hard because they have been blessed, can also fall hard if they stray.

Especially if Hyundai were to somehow deviate into a more conservative design path- they will really fail.

Beauty is more important that Booty (Money/Treasure), Remember that.

Hyundai needs to continue to focus on making the world’s most beautiful cars.

  6. Vito says:

I agree it looks a lot better than expected and I can certainly see it giving the Mondeo some serious competition. A friend of mine told me they are going to have a big online reveal. Those anybody have any news on that?

  7. Brandon says:

Hyundai needs to go back and make something like a minivan that has a sliding rear door. I really think they missed the boat… look at how fancy the Honda, Toyota, and Chrylser minivans are becoming. The Kia Sedona is ok, but overpriced since it’s a little behind on technology and luxury.

  8. HyundaiSmoke says:

Brandon, I have a feeling the awesome KV7 concept will turn out to be a sweet Next Gen Sedona for KIA.

If KIA were to use the KV7 concept, then Sedona would blow away every and any minivan in the world. I hate Minivans, as they are a sign of an “Anti- car company.” However, a KV7 as a Minivan would actually make be a Minivan believer.

Hyundai will never do a minivan ever again, as the Hyundai Entourage according to Hyundai North America CEO “was a low cost experiment, in how not to have 2 minivans that are rebadged in the same company.”

Too bad Chrysler doesnt get the picture.

  9. Alex says:

    @HyundaiSmoke

Regarding Chrysler, Marchionne has announced recently that Canada the US will soon have only one Pentastar minivan – oddly enough, each market will have a different van.

    And the KV7 is hideous.
