The i30 range is about to get extended thanks to the introduction of a made for Europe 3-door i30 model, a first-ever for Hyundai.
The all-new i30 3-door has been made solely for Europe and looks set to challenge the most competitive segment in Europe.
This is actually the segment where the brand has seen the most success in the past 5-6 years.
The new 3-door body style is expected to help boost Hyundai’s sales and raise brand awareness and consumer perception all across Europe.
i30 Design Elements
The look is a good bit sportier thanks to a sharply raked beltline, longer front doors and an angular glasshouse.
The sporty Hyundai i30 3-door offers exclusive 16-inch alloy wheels, as well as some orange touches on the trim and stitching on the interior.
The cool stitching can be found on the steering wheel, gear shift knob and more. It’s a pretty dramatic look that adds a real touch of style to the 3-door model.
The aforementioned front doors are 170 mm longer than the 5-door version, which help add to the sporty styling of the car.
They also help make getting into the front seats a good deal easier. There is also plenty of space foe those in the rear seat of the i30, thanks to an additional 38 mm of hip room and a mere 21 mm less shoulder room than in the 5-door.
All of the other external and internal dimensions are exactly the same.
One of the most striking visual aspects of the 2013 Hyundai i30 3-door is the treatment applied to the mesh insert surrounding the central bar of Hyundai’s signature hexagonal grille.
One either side of the bumper are the redesigned fog lights that have a distinctly sportier look than the one on the 5-door.
The entire housing is backed by mesh that is in stark contrast to the LED daytime running light strips.
There is no denying that the 5-door has a sporty profile, but that look is further accentuated in the 3-door thanks to a sharply raked beltline and a distinctive glasshouse silhouette.
The line rises gradually from the wing mirror then cuts up noticeably in line with the leading edge of the rear wheel arch.
The same sort of treatment is given to the top edge of the glasshouse, completing the incredibly sporty look of the 3-door whilst still keeping the same dimensions of the 5-door model.
The lower bumper of the 3-door has been remodeled and now includes new horizontally sculpted fog lamps that are in stark contrast to the upright lights found on the 5-door.
The addition of that new style of lights gives the car the impression of being wider and sportier in the back.

Together, these figures make for the best power-to-efficiency ratio in the segment.
All the in-house technologies developed for the 5-door also appear in the 3-door.
That includes the likes of Hyundai’s own six-speed manual and automatic transmissions and its FLEX STEER system.
That particular system allows drivers of the 3-door Hyundai i30 to choose from one of three settings to suit driving conditions.
