Hyundai Eon release date set for October 2011
Hyundai Eon, the all-new entry-level small car from the South Korean carmaker, will be launched in India in October!
The second largest car manufacturer in India, Hyundai Motors India, is all set to take the wraps off its latest product, the all-new city-car called Eon. New Hyundai Eon will be the smallest car Hyundai has ever produced and is targeted at the first time buyers!
According to latest report in The Economic Times, Hyundai’s long-awaited entry-level car will make its official public premiere in October next month, while sales will commence shortly after its official unveiling ceremony.
The report also revealed that the city-car will adopt design elements based on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy and will look more upscale than any other rival in the segment, including Suzuki Alto and Tata Nano.
In addition, the new model is expected to raise the bar for the small-sized cars in India by offering a plethora of features ussually found on larger cars. Those include front and side airbags, keyless entry, power windows, fog lamps, central locking and two-tone interior.
Hyundai India Sales and Marketing Director Arvind Saxena believes that there is no other car in the segment that is comparable with new Hyundai Eon. Although its a small car in size, it offers a very spacious cabin with large boot, something that you get only in larger cars.
Developed at Hyundai’s research & development headquarters in Korea and India over the past four years, the new Eon will be powered by a brand-new 814-cc three-cylinder engine, which generates 56 horsepower at 5.500 rpm and 7.6 kgm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Reportedly, the super-efficient 0.8L petrol engine achieves a mileage of 21.1 km, making the new Hyundai Eon the most fuel-efficient car in the segment!

Niice! Way to bring fluidic sculture to the masses!
This might very well be the new i10 for Europe as well; although this stylish little thing will steal more than a few sales from the i10 in the meanwhile.
But they really shouldn’t be getting rid of the ‘i10′ moniker – the name has good recognition and Hyundai’s “i” branded models have built up a good reputation.
Eon will sit below i10 in India as per reports here..
Better name it ”iEON”.. that would be nice!

Hyundai should bring it stateside since we sell the Mini, the new Fiat-500, the Mazda2, and of course the suprizingly popular… wait for it… the Smart Fortwo. All of these cars are very popular in the urban areas …for some strange reason. LOL!
This is a nice car though …i’d buy it over the Mazda 2 any day!
@EB – it would be preferable for Hyundai to bring a redesigned i10 to the US.
Don’t worry about the i10. It will stay and won’t be replaced by new Eon. Hyundai Eon will be sold exclusivelly in India.

I have an Highest regards on Hyundai motors, since I was having an “Santro” earlier, which gave Highest performances, when U drive the vehicle especially on High-ways.
The front road view was fantastic to drive Hours & Hours.
Few companies introduced small cars & I do not rely on those companies.

The looks of the car is best, but if Hyundai may launch diesel version, the sales will grown up as most of the public are showing interest on diesel version cars due to increasing of petrol day to day.

i had a accent and a santro earlier and both have been just wonderful and the service at hyderabad by talwar is far superior at their outlet at nampally and i always a good 21 kmpl on the highway and a bt 13.5 in city but i did a big mistake of buying a ford figo diesel recently but their service is no comparision to that of huyndai !! but sure im going back to huyndai for my next car real soon thanks one and all at huyndai for their support .dr.vikas.b.v.j

The word EON must have been adopted from the famous US car maker Dodge NEON…….no surprise that’s also a small car according to US standards…..

- Will this car be heavily taxed, thereby increasing the cost more than 3 lakhs even for basic model ?
- nano is the only choice if car makers think of ‘only’ profit even in small cars or from middle class.
- Features are not always the priority in low budget cars, coz the buyer of this class will look for a car with minimum needs in it.

The headlamp should have been designed in a better way (instead of going upwards, either rectangular or sideways).

The car is going to bwe launched on 14th Oct’2011. The power 55 BHP coming out of 814 cc engine at 5500 rpm is really fantastic. Power to weight ratio is impressive. Undoubtedly it is going to be the leader for many years to come. Maruti has to think hard to compete on the specifications and the design. All the best to EON!!!!!!!!!!!
Just like the “A Segment” vehicle, the Kia Picanto, the Hyundai version, the Eon, will never make it to North America. It was inevitable that Hyundai would bring out its own version of the Popular mini Kia. Lets see if its gets “decontented” like the Accent was.
