Hyundai Motor America Makes All-Time October Sales Record with an Impressive 38 Percent Increase!
Early this month, Hyundai Motor America announced that it just made its all-time record October sales of 42,656, which is 38 percent better than in 2009. Retail sales increased by 71 percent, reported Hyundai, while at the same time, deliveries to fleet accounts decreased by 46 percent.
Just in October, Hyundai’s total and retail volumes have already exceeded those from the 2009 calendar year. Fleet mix for October was 11 percent. This is the best October ever for the Korean-based car manufacturer.
There’s no more denying it. Hyundai cars are crashing the automotive sales charts very well these days. American car buyers are excited and ready to purchase new and redesigned Hyundai cars. Two of the most popular units are the all-new Sonata sedan and Tucson crossover vehicle. These two models have been introduced to the US consumers earlier this year and already they have sold so many units and have won so many loyal patrons.
For this year, Hyundai was able to sell a total of 452,703 new vehicles around the States or about 21 percent better than during the same 10-month period of last year. Retail sales improved by 29 percent. These are impressive numbers and Hyundai is very happy with these accomplishments.
“We were very encouraged by what appeared to be a general strengthening of the overall sales environment in October. The game-changing Sonata is red hot, once again outselling Altima, Fusion, and Malibu at retail. As availability improves for the 2011 Tucson and 2011 Santa Fe, coupled with the launch of turbo and hybrid versions of Sonata, we expect to continue to set sales records, elevate brand awareness, and drive market share growth for the remainder of the fourth quarter,” explained Dave Zuchowski, sales executive vice president of Hyundai Motor America.
All leading Hyundai vehicles saw an impressive increase in sales last month. From last year’s performance, Accent increased its sales by 17 percent, Elantra went up by 10 percent, Genesis by 28 percent and Sonata and Tucson made an impressive 125 percent and 260 percent increase, respectively. The recent sales performance of the 2011 Genesis is the 16th consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases.
Hyundai’s top 3 bestsellers last month were the Accent sub-compact with 5,372 units, Elantra with 9,497 and Sonata with 17,505. The 2011 Hyundai Sonata has out-sold its rivals, including the Nissan Altima, Chevy Malibu and Ford Fusion.
Other Hyundai models that performed very well last month were the Santa Fe SUV with 3,600 units sold (6,448 in 2009), Tucson crossover with 3,051 units (848 in 2009), Genesis with 2,375 units (1,850 in 2009), Veracruz 1,054 units (516 in 2009), and Azera 202 units (298 in 2009).
Critics used to say that people were shifting to Hyundai primarily for its highly consumer-friendly terms such as a 10-year powertrain warranty, 5-year roadside assistance, and the unique Hyundai Assurance job-loss protection. With its impressive sales last month, however, it is safe to say that people are now purchasing Hyundai cars because they are Hyundai cars.
