Hyundai has already become the second-largest automaker in India, but they are definitely not planning on resting on their laurels.
They went big on volume last year, selling over 500,000 vehicles there, and they are now looking to expand that line-up over the next few years.
We can expect to see no less than 8 new Hyundai models introduced to the market by the time 2020 rolls around.
Five of these vehicles will be upgrade to existing models, with the remaining three being totally new.
Hyundai Santro launch (news & rumors)
Hyundai India CEO recently gave an interview to one of the automobile magazines in India where he spoke about the near future, and how critical the Indian market is to the global success currently being enjoyed by Hyundai.
He revealed the need to invest in that success, and of how the re-introduction of the new generation Hyundai Santro would be part of future growth in that part of the world.
Santro release date
The all-new Hyundai Santro is coming back on the Indian market in the second half of 2018 and will boast a whole new exterior and interior design.
The 2018 Hyundai Santro will very nicely fill the spot that exists between the small Hyundai Eon and Grand i10.
The new vehicle is still very much in the development stage, with the majority of the work being done at the R&D center in Hyderabad.
Codenamed AH, the vehicle is rumored to incorporate a crossover-like appearance and will serve as a serious competitor to the likes of the Renault Kwid and Datsun redi-GO.
This vehicle will be an unmistakable product if Hyundai, as it will come with the popular Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language.
While the Santro will certainly look good, it is going to need to offer more to beat out the competition, which is why it is likely to be loaded with premium features and very aggressively priced.
Other future Hyundai models in India
The investment in the Indian market will not stop with the Santro redesign, though, as Hyundai also plans on delivering a compact SUV that will compete with the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford Eco Sport.
