Video Preview Of The 5-Door Elantra GT 2016 Model Year
The video below, showcases the 2016 Elantra GT facelift, which has just been officially unveiled at the auto show in Chicago!
The Elantra is the best-selling sedan that Hyundai has to offer in the United States, and while the Elantra GT may share the same name, it’s a totally different beast.
The 5-door Elantra GT is European through and through, and it has the VW Golf, Mazda 3 and the Ford Focus hatchbacks set in its sights.
There are some major changes being made to the newest Elantra GT, which will face a stern test against the afore-mentioned rivals.
New Hyundai Elantra GT Video Preview
1. Styling changes
The exterior of the 2016 Elantra GT looks pretty much the same as previously.
The most obvious changes are the larger Hyundai signature grille up front, and the LED lights around back. There are also cool new 17-inch alloy wheels available to add a sportier touch.
2. Changes inside
On the inside, the GT model comes available with the latest BlueLink infotainment system that includes navigation, HD Radio, and Apple Siri integration.
Up front, ventilated seats are an option, as are heated seats in the back. Remote start is also an available option, as is climate control and Google-powered destination search.
It may look sporty, but the refreshed 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT is also versatile, delivering 23 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats upright.
Fold the rear seats sown, and you get 51 cubic feet of space. That beats the cargo capacity of the Mazda 3 and the Focus when they have their seats folded down.
3. Engine & transmission
Under the hood, you will find a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that delivers 173 horsepower and 154 lb-ft of torque.
This engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. EPA estimated fuel ratings come in at 24/33 mpg city/highway.
4. Pricing & on-sale date
The new 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT pricing will start at $18,800. It is scheduled to hit Hyundai showrooms across the USA in March 2015.
