A pair of different recalls are being issued by Hyundai, with 569,500 vehicles in the US set to be affected.
To this point there have been no reports of accident or injury caused by either issue!

2011-2012 Hyundai Sonata recall
The more pressing of the two recalls affects 470,000 units of the 2011-2012 Sonata, with all affected units made between December 11, 2009, and April 12, 2012 at the Hyundai’s production plant in Alabama.
The vehicles in question have either 2.0L or 2.4L gasoline direct injection engines.
Metal debris that entered the crankshaft during production may not have been fully removed, making it possible that the connecting oil rod passages may become blocked.
This potential blockage could affect the lubrication of the rod, and may result in loud knocking or outright failure while the vehicle is being operated.
Hyundai asks owners of said vehicles to take them in for inspection. If there is an issue, the engine assembly will be replaced free of charge.
Hyundai will also extend the warranty to 10 years/120,000 miles on the short block. Initial notifications went out on November 2, and another will be sent when the parts are made available.
2009-2011 Hyundai Accent recall
The second recall affects 99,500 units of the 2009-2011 Hyundai Accent which were made between March 1, 2009, and February 11, 2011.
The problem here is a brake light switch that may not always work as it’s supposed to.
Potential issues include the shifter not leaving PARK, brake light not illuminating, and loss of cruise control functionality via the pedal.
The service campaign begins November 2 (2015), with all affected switches replaced free of charge.
