2012/2013 Hyundai models: attractive design, new engine technology and enhanced fuel economy
Hyundai future model line-up is getting a whole new look. The South Korean largest car-maker plans to introduce a range of new cars and crossover vehicles, spiced up with even more attractive exterior & interior design, enhanced engine technology and improved safety.
So let’s take a look at some of the forth-coming Hyundai models:
All-new Hyundai small car
Earlier this year Hyundai Motor India revealed that there is a brand-new mini-car in works at Hyundai’s Namyang R&D centre located in Korea. The unnamed mini-car will make its official premiere in the first half of 2011, with sales commencing in the second half of the year. In the first phase of launch, the new mini-car will be sold only in India, while later it will also appear on some other International markets.
Hyundai i10 facelift
Hyundai i10 is the entry-level vehicle in the automaker’s European line-up. The popular i10 minicar, which competes head to head against European rivals, such as Fiat Panda, Kia Picanto and Peugeot 107, is getting a mid-cycle facelift for the 2011 model year.
According to latest reports from sources close to Hyundai, the 2011 i10 will get a refreshed front fascia, slightly updated tail-lights and new entry-level 1.0L engine, which will slot in below existing 1.2L Kappa engine.
Next-generation Hyundai Accent
Hyundai already revealed its all-new Accent sub-compact car at the 2010 Busan Auto Show. The car has an eye-pleasing exterior design with many styling ques taken from the 2011 Sonata sedan. Engine line-up has not been confirmed yet, but we are expecting the 2011 Hyundai Accent to feature a 1.6L four-cylinder engine under its hood.
2011 Hyundai Elantra
Hyundai is all-set to officially unveil a completely redesigned Elantra compcat car in the USA. The 2011 Elantra is expected to make its official premiere at the 2010 L.A. auto show, which opens its doors in November this year. The all-new Elantra is a stunning compact sedan, which borrows many styling elements from recent Hyundai concept cars.
The all-new Elantra will be offered with Hyundai’s new 1.6L GDI four-cylinder engine, which is 10 percent more fuel efficient in comparison to its direct competitors. Mated to the six-speed automatic (or manual) gearbox, the engine develops 140 horsepower and 17.0 kg/m of torque. The 2011 Elantra will hit US showroom floor in spring next year.
Front-wheel-drive Veloster coupe
The long-awaited Tiburon replacement is Hyundai’s answer to edgy-looking Honda CR-Z. It’s scheduled to go on sale in the US-market in the first half of 2011. Hyundai is expected to take the wraps off its new entry-level sports car at the up-coming Paris Auto Show next month.
2011 Hyundai Genesis
For the 2011 model year, Hyundai Genesis will receive some styling tweaks. The refreshed Genesis sedan is going to look even more attractive thanks to a set of redesigned head-lamps, new signature grille and slightly updated front bumper.
2012 Hyundai Azera
It’s no secret that Hyundai engineers are also working hard on next-generation Azera near-luxury sedan. Codenamed HG, the 2012 Azera has recently been spotted testing on US soil, as well as in Korea.
The model will be built upon the same platform as its sister model from Kia Motors, the K7 sedan (known as Kia Cadenza in the USA). The all-new Azera will arrive to the States in the spring of 2012.
2012 Hyundai Santa Fe crossover
There are no spy shots of the 2012 Santa Fe available at this point. According to latest rumors, the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe is going to look sharper than the current model and will get a hybrid-electric powertrain.
2012/2013 Fuel-cell powered car, plug-in hybrid car
The automaker will begin serial mass production of a fuel cell-powered vehicle by the end of 2012. Production of Hyundai’s zero-emission vehicle will be limited to just 500 to 1.000 units for the first two years, though this number could be pushed as high as 10.000 units by the end of 2015.
A plug-in hybrid electric car is also in the works. It is expected to hit the market sometime in 2013.

THE VELOSTER & THE ELANTRA ARE THE ONES THAT PEEK MY INTEREST!!
August 25th, 2010 at 3:17 pm
Good, but STILL no i30/elantra hatch and no diesel.
Of course, we don’t like diesel hatches over here… that’s why VW can’t keep tdi Golfs in stock
Wake up Hyundai/Kia – don’t just concentrate on cosmetics. I’m not asking for new cars, just bring what you’ve already got!

WILL THERE BE AN ELANTRA OR ACCENT COUPE OR WILL THE VELOSTER FILL THIS AREA?

Are you sure about the 1.6 in the Elantra and not a 2.0?

Agreeing with mtn_bob when are we going to get the Diesel ?
November 13th, 2010 at 2:59 am
The current Santa Fe diesel is one of the most efficient.
Why isn’t it in the U.S.?

2012 Hyundai Genesis, Should have the exact same vehicle wheelbase Length & width of the 2012 Equus. The Rear end and Front Grill end of the genesis needs to remain exactly the same as it’s always been, I’ve seen the 2012 ( to date ) versions of the genesis and can tell that Joel’s influence is gone making Lincoln and Ford vehicles look like the genesis with the retard Phil Zak taking over at hyundai from GM.
BMW Diehard, I will not sit back and watch these “subtle” exterior design changes to the Genesis, I’ve been wanting to purchase the vehicle since 09 but it didn’t have the 8 Speed transmission or the 5.0 V8 it will have with the same MPG in 2012, It’s new chrome trim above the license plating is ugly as fuck, so is it’s under horizontal strip pieced in two instead of one strip spanning across the entire rear end like it should and originally was.
I’ve been designing my own and literally the best and most attractive interior and exterior models for the Genesis, it’s only missing a handful of things it needs that the ugly Lincoln MKS twin Equus has like it’s CDC among others and Advanced Climate Control along with all heated and cooled seats, suspension control …. VSM, you name it …. That needs to be the Genesis without any altered outside aesthetics. I could type for days, I need to contact these idiots before they ruin the genesis further.

Another Note to Make about the 2012 Genesis, I’ve been reading a lot about it after reviewing the car myself looking at it’s current state, what the fuck is going on with this bullshit “facelift” of the car ? Looking god awful just like it’s rear end I posted about earlier ?
But on to this post, They Hyundai Azera, Beautiful car, until I saw it’s newest iteration, stop forcing the front grills down into a slope of ugliness …. where did these designers come from tearing apart what made these platforms successful to begin with ?
Don’t fix what isn’t broken, learn from what video game and vehicle designers struggle to grasp to this day. Bigotry ….

I want to upgrade from 2008 Tucson to a Santa Fe. I’m in doubt about buying a 2011 Santa Fe now or waiting for the new 2012 Santa Fe? Does anybody know when the new 2012 Santa Fe will arrive? What would you recommend? 2011 now or 2012 later? Thanks for the advice.

Iuri, I would wait for the 2012 Santa Fe to release before you make your decision. With each generation the product gets new features and innovations that make it better than the previous generation. If the 2012 version gets a Hybrid drive train, that might make the wait even better. My current 2010 Santa Fe only gets 20 city, 24 highway at best. Combined for me is usually between 20 and 21 mpg. Also, the 2010 has some issues with suspension/ride quality over bumps, and many people (not myself so far-knock on wood) are having issues with the transmission. Look on the NTSB for reports. Of like 53 complaints last time I checked NTSB regarding the Santa Fe, 49 of them are transmission related (all 49 have the same issue).

I see nothing regarding the 2012 Veracruze. Too bad as it is a nice vehicle in desperate need of drivetrain improvement. MPG needs to be 20/28 just to stay in the ballgame.

I heard that the 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe transmission problems
are from defective clutch discs in the transmission. It appears
there was a manufacturing tolerance issue causing the banging in certain gears.
March 14th, 2011 at 3:47 am
Regarding the 2012 Veracruze, I have heard from several sources that the current Veracruze will be replaced by a new (unnamed), more upscale luxury SUV. It makes sense in that if the 2012 Santa Fe has some significant upgrades/improvements, it could have a negative impact Veracruze sales, which have not been exceptionally good the last couple of years.

Hyundai has to be careful they don’t make the same mistake with the “Santa Fe” that Chrysler made with the new “Jeep Grand Cherokee”. The newly designed and improved JGC is now out of reach for most Americans and Canadians.Chrysler’s price points and interest rates have become too high. Sadly the new JGC has gone from being “America’s Jeep” to being a luxury SUV only the “well to do” can afford. I hope Hyundai doesn’t go down this same road with the Santa Fe….It’s a fine line…making a great vehicle while not pricing yourself out of the market…Hyundai’s done a great job of that so far.
Keeping reasonable price points and 0% interest rates are essential strategies to Hyundai maintaining and growing future market share….So, be careful with all that rope the success of the Santa Fe has given you Hyundai.

With so many car manufacturers turning to hybrid cars I am wondering how much the electricity will become expensive.
May 29th, 2011 at 7:20 pm
If you think Hyundai is ‘pricing itself out of the market’ you are wrong. The fact is, YOUR personal income is not keeping pace. Just becuase YOU can’t afford something doensnt mean it is too expensive..it just means that you are not EARNING enough.

I am looking forward to get a 2012 Santa Fe and have news from the local dealership that it will likely to be available by the end of Sept 2011 for viewing.
Currently, the sale is going on to clear stocks for 2011 with $ 4,000 off.

The 2012 is just a new grill, still cheap looking. The 2013 is the big change, was suppposed to be shown at Frankfurt show last week but was not. So maybe at the LA or Detroit show so it may not be out till spring or summer. Maybe two sizes, a two row and a three row. Veracruz on the way out.

When will the 2013 Sonata be released for sale?
