2011 Hyundai Veloster Coupe release date delayed
Is Hyundai planning to delay the official unveiling of the 2011 Veloster sports coupe?
Korean press reported recently that Hyundai Motor Company plans to delay the official launch of its all-new entry-level sports car. As we have learned from a close source to Hyundai, the 2011 Veloster coupe was scheduled to hit the Korean market in November this year.
However, the automaker decided to postpone the official Korean-market Veloster launch to a later date. According to latest rumors, the all-new Veloster coupe will hit local Hyundai stores sometime during the first month of 2011. Production is expected to commence in December this year.
Main reason, why Hyundai decided to delay the Veloster’s release date are coinciding launches of new Azera/Grandeur sedan and Accent sub-compact car, which are both scheduled to hit the local market before year’s end! The all-new Accent will be launched in November, while the 2011 Grandeur near-luxury sedan will follow in December.
Codenamed FS, the production-ready Veloster coupe will be powered by Hyundai’s new 1.6L GDI engine with more than 140 horsepower. A turbocharged version of the afore-mentioned four-cylinder engine will also be available. The 1.6L turbo unit is expected to produce around 180 horsepower and will, reportedly, be mated to Hyundai’s first-ever dual-clutch automatic gearbox!
